Site Submission
for The Julian Sands Page WebRing

There are several steps to becoming part of the webring:

1) make sure your site is appropriate for this webring. The following types of pages/sites will be rejected:

2) fill out the submission form (below) -- you will then be added to the queue, a "waiting area" where submitted sites are held until they are approved and added to the webring.

3) add the webring HTML code to your page. It should appear on the page you list in the site submission form as the Site URL. (You can also -- if you must! -- place the code on a separate webring page, if you have one, but there should be an obvious and direct link to that page from the page you submit as your Site URL -- make it easy for webring users to get back on the ring once they've gotten to your site!) You should also copy the webring logo to your site -- due to unpredictibility with servers and files, this is the only way to guarantee that the logo will always be available to visitors to your site. NOTE: I am still working on putting together a generic code for the webring which you can cut and paste into your page, as well as the links which will allow you to edit your information in the webring. This should be done in the next few days, so check back if you're waiting for these features.

4) notify me (sitemistress@juliansands.org) that you have added the code to your page (make sure to include the URL of the page where you added your code and the title and site ID you are assigned in the submission process). I will then check your page to make sure that you've added the code correctly and evaluate the page/site for admission to the webring. Once it has been approved and added, you will be notified. (Note: if you do not add the HTML code to your page and notify me within 4 weeks of submitting your site, it will be removed from the queue and you will have to submit it again.)

5) maintenance and upkeep: you must maintain your page. Sites that have been abandoned or which persistently are unavailable or have an abundance of broken links will be removed from the webring. If you move your page, please update your information in the webring and notify me of the new URL. Pages which "disappear" will be removed and you will have to resubmit your site

WebRings are interesting in that the hardest part is starting out: you've got to submit the site, add the HTML code to your page and notify the webring owner. But once you've done that, there is essentially nothing to worry about. If you're intimidated by this process, keep that in mind.
